Spring Term 1

In our third half-term of French we will be: 



  • describing objects using colours
  • talking about pets we had, have and would like to have 
  • learning how to describe our family
  • learning how to ask questions
  • saying which hobbies we like and dislike


In terms of phonics we will be:


  • concentrating on liaisons and silent letters


In terms of grammar we will be

  • practising adjectival agreement
  • using the verb avoir in three time frames
  • using j'aime with an infinitive

The key verbs 'avoir' and 'être' will be known to you will be learning about the key phrase je voudrais, which grammar fans, is followed by an infinitive.

We will be looking to develop our sentences this week by exploring the use of relative pronoun. What is a relative pronoun? By the end of this week not only will you know but you will able to use both 'qui est' and 'que je trouve'.


This being week three there will of course be an assessment based on the last two weeks. The difference is that you will be writing 5 sentences in French to describe what you see in a photograph.
