For the summer examinations we will be completing a full set of Foundation Level Papers. You will be assessed in the four skills of Listening Reading Speaking and Writing. Each of the skills is worth 25% of the overall grade. Below you will find details and advice on each of the examinations and week by week resources to help you to prepare.
With the speaking examination in particular the keys to success are familiarity with the format and thorough preparation of the three question banks.
This will take place in the week prior to examinations week.
You have 5 silent minutes to read through the paper.
The test lasts around 40 minutes. You hear each extract twice and must provide short answers: in section A, it is often a multiple choice where you provide a letter. In section B you answer briefly in French.
This will take place during examinations week in the hall.

You will have 12 minutes preparation time. During this time, you will write a script for your role play and your photocard from which you can read in the examinationl.
The format of the examinations is as follows.
1) Roleplay (1-2mins)
2) Photocard on Theme 1or 3 (2 mins)
Hand in all notes at this point
3) General Conversation on Theme 2 (2mins)
4)General Conversation on opposite theme to Photocard
This will take place in the week prior to examinations week.
1) Photo description 8 marks
2) 40 word paragraph 16 marks
3) 5 sentences to translate 10 marks
3) 90 word paragraph 16 marks

The listening and writing exams will be taking place this week so the best thing to do is to be learning from the Quizlet sets on the right. You also need to be learning by heart the mini-paragraphs you have had marked.
